The Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit (MSHTU) sits within the Threat Leadership Directorate and is the NCA’s specialist unit which leads the national law enforcement response to modern slavery and human trafficking.

The MSHTU works closely with a wide range of stakeholders from across law enforcement, government and third sector to deliver a comprehensive response to modern slavery and human trafficking.

Over the last three years there has been a step change in activity, making this high profile threat area a dynamic and fast paced area to work in. The work of this unit brings together traditional organised crime approaches with a strong victim focus.
