The National Referral Mechanism (NRM) is a framework for identifying victims of modern slavery or human trafficking (MSHT) and ensuring they receive the appropriate support.

The NRM is also the mechanism through which our Modern Slavery Human Trafficking Unit (MSHTU) collects potential victim data to manage the process. This information contributes towards building a clearer picture regarding the scale of human trafficking and modern slavery in the UK.
