As an Officer for the National Data Exploitation Capability (NDEC) Biometrics Team, you are responsible for supporting the biometrics team to collect and analyse sensitive intelligence in support of serious and organised criminal investigations on behalf of the NCA. NDEC Biometrics provide opportunity to bring on board new complementary capabilities that can be developed for the wider Agency; enhancing the work already being done in the department and drive up the opportunities for further SOC disruptions.
Biometrics involves taking biometric identifiers to find models which can then be used to identify common actors across operations, crime types and between organisations. This is cutting edge technology which offers both huge potential for improving criminal justice outcomes and a unique career experience. The NDEC Biometrics team works closely with stakeholders across the NCA and externally with a wide range of partners based in London and the South East. The NDEC Programme is transforming the Agency’s data acquisition, exploitation and visualisation capabilities by harnessing analytics, automation, algorithms and machine learning. It will enable the Agency to see criminal activity which we currently do not see, spot trends earlier and intervene more powerfully.
