Whilst police Special Constables traditionally provide general support to their Force, NCA Specials are recruited because of their specialist, niche expertise and skills that are rarely available within law enforcement, but that are of huge value in the fight against serious and organised crime.
Current areas of expertise among our NCA Specials include:
NCA Specials is an attractive volunteering opportunity for people with specialist skills and enables us to harness the contribution of civic‑minded individuals in our work.
As with all of our officers, NCA Specials are crime fighters, wholly committed to cutting serious and organised crime.
Due to the nature and sensitivity of the work completed by the NCA and the levels of intelligence accessed, high standards are expected of individuals who wish to work, for or with the NCA, this standard is often higher than many other organisations.
The NCA Vetting Unit not only completes National Security Vetting (SC&DV), but also our own NCA Standards checks which assess the risk from criminality. We will not normally consider applications from anyone with criminal convictions or cautions.
One step ahead of the criminals is where we need to be, so we recruit people from virtually every walk of life.
